Dining St. Louis: Special Spotlight

Bissell Mansion Restaurant and
Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre
Presents
Go With the Wind
(Along with any reverence for this popular classic)
Through April 2010
There was a land of cavaliers and cotton fields called the Old South...Here in this pretty world gallantry took its last bow. Here was the last ever to be seen of knights and their ladies fair, of master and of slave...Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered. A civilization that did...
Forget what you saw in the movie. Our parody will introduce you to a foppishly flamboyant Ashley Fru Fru, despised by everyone - including our show's heroine, Scarlett O'Herring. Shortly after he is introduced to the audience in the first scene; jealousies erupt between Scarlett's many suitors. In the heat of passions, Ashley is murdered.
While this will let the audience dine in peace, there's still the problem of trying to apprehend a murderer, since everyone wanted Ashley dead. Could it have been Scarlett's father, motivated by disapproval of the attention she received from him, or could it have been one of Scarlett's many jealous suitors, who wanted her to himself? Or was it Ashley's cousin, Melanie, who was spurned by Ashley for Scarlett's affections? Or was it those damn Yankee? (No, sorry, that's another show altogether). Only the mysterious rake from Georgia, Ratt Butler, can help Scarlett solve the mystery. So come to the Bissell Mansion Dinner Theatre and help Ratt look for clues. Because let's face it, Scarlett is pretty clueless.
Make your reservations now; It would be a CRIME to miss out on this much FUN! Call the Bissell Mansion at 314-533-9830 or 1-800-690-9838.

ST. LOUIS, MO, (SLFP.com), March 4, 2010 - The River City Casino has unveiled a winning jackpot dining experience with Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse, one of five new restaurants, at its 90,000 square-foot casino in south St. Louis County.
Guests seeking the ultimate, upscale dining will enjoy the stunning Victorian-era architecture welcoming them to the restaurant. In an interview during a VIP sneak preview on March 1, Jeff Ruby enthusiastically described how this location differs from his restaurants in Cincinnati, Belterra and Louisville.
"It's Victorian with American overtones that pays tribute to St. Louis architectural history of St. Louis. It goes back to that rich tradition and that bygone period. From the exterior, the façade is reminiscent of Judy Garland's family home in Meet Me in St. Louis. The interior was inspired by Dolly Parson's Hello Dolly. You will see murals that are reminiscent of an actual scene from the movie where the waiters are dancing with trays on the stage."
Relaxing at the sushi bar under a skylight while overseeing the staff preparing for the grand opening, he commented that the menu feature. "Our philosophy is to do a quality, upscale restaurant but bring more than just food to the experience. Most restaurants are just about food and too formal. We like to bring a little energy and make it more of a complete visual experience along with the entertainment," he smiled.
Ruby noted that the menu offered more than just steak. "It's gourmet food on the high-end, but there are a lot of other options."
The incomparable selection of USDA Prime dry-aged steaks, signature salads, fresh sushi bar and wine list featuring more than 500 different labels from around the world is impressive.
However, the opportunity to enjoy world-class service in a comfortable setting surrounded by Italian marble statues, classic old world paintings, exquisite antiques, a piano player elevated behind a marble-topped bar and an outdoor seating area complete with a bronze fountain is simply an extraordinary experience to savor.

The 1904 Beerhouse features a 60-foot long bar, serving more than 100 beers by the bottle.
